HARP 2.0 (Home Affordable Refinance Program)

The new HARP 2.0 (Home Affordable Refinance Program) was unrolled November 15th, 2011. Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae have adopted changes to the HARP program and you may be eligible to take advantage of these changes. The revamped HARP refinance program provides more homeowners, who may not otherwise qualify for refinancing because of declining home values, the ability to refinance into a lower interest rate and/or more stable mortgage product. If your mortgage is owned or guaranteed by either Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae, you may be eligible to refinance your mortgage under the enhanced and expanded provisions of the new HARP refinance program.

The new HARP refinance program is available on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac owned home loans only. Just because you make your monthly mortgage payment to a loan servicer like Chase, Bank of America, GMAC, Wells Fargo, etc., doesn't mean your home loan is not owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. You can determine if your home loan is owned by either Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae by checking your property address on the following websites:

HARP home loan guidelines:

  • Available on Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac owned or guaranteed loans on or before May 31, 2009 (Contact us to determine eligibility)
  • Loan must be current with no late payments in the last six months and no more than one late in the last 12 months
  • No limit on Loan-to-Value as long as new loan will be a fixed rate loan
  • Loans previously refinanced under HARP not eligible
